"A Time to Fly" Gala

Dear Friends,

On Friday, November 12, 2010, The Blue Bird Circle, one of Houston’s oldest charitable organizations, will honor the work of Gary D. Clark, M.D., Chief of Pediatric Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine and Chief of Neurology Services at Texas Children’s Hospital.  Our annual gala will be held at River Oaks Country Club.  This year’s theme “A Time to Fly” captures the spirit of what promises to be a very special year for our philanthropic commitments including The Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology at Texas Children’s Hospital, The Blue Bird Circle Developmental Neurogenetics Laboratory and The Blue Bird Circle Rett Center.

It is with great anticipation and joy that we announce, through the efforts of Dr. Clark, the expansion of The Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology to include a new and innovative venture, The Blue Bird Circle Clinical Research Center at Texas Children’s Hospital.  As the largest pediatric neurology clinic in the United States, treating more than 20,000 young patients each year, we  excel in general child neurology care and multiple specialty clinics (including, but not limited to Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Rett Syndrome, Batten’s Disease, Angelman’s Syndrome, Sleep Disorders, Epilepsy, Stroke and Headache).  As an underwriter of this gala, you will play a key role in establishing The Blue Bird Circle Clinical Research Center and its mission to bring ever-advancing therapies to bear for our patients.  This new center will support cutting-edge research in neurology and will enhance the larger effort to build a clinical research support structure that will advance care to the next level and make a difference in the lives of children affected by neurological disorders.  It will capitalize on the remarkable scientific discoveries being made in childhood neurologic diseases and will serve as the clinical research arm of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital, as well as for The Blue Bird Circle Developmental Neurogenetics Lab and The Blue Bird Circle Rett Center, developing the treatments and cures of tomorrow.

The Circle graciously requests your financial support for our primary fundraiser.  Your support will help us meet our new commitment to fund The Blue Bird Circle Clinical Research Center on an ongoing basis.  Your financial support will also help our clinic move from providing excellent care for our children to providing the future of care.  Please help us make this fantastic opportunity a reality for the children who seek treatment at The Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology.

Please join us on Friday, November 12, 2010 at our exciting “A Time to Fly” gala honoring Dr. Gary Clark by becoming an underwriter.  We promise a fun evening of good food, music and conversation.  An underwriter form and return envelope are enclosed.  Should you have questions or need further information about our gala or The Blue Bird Circle, please call Karen Litel at 832-867-7300 or email Karenlitel@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you in November, and thank you in advance for your kind support!

Yours sincerely,

Susan Carlisle
